Private Day Tour — Local
A guided half- or full-day excursion to one of Northern California's premier birding sites. Optics provided. Suitable for beginners to lifers chasing a specific species.
Ornithologist, photographer, and guide. Reading landscapes through the birds that inhabit them — for the curious, the collector, and the conservation-minded.
Henry has spent the better part of a decade in the field — leading public excursions for the Yolo Bird Alliance, documenting species along the Pacific Flyway, and chasing rarities across six continents.
Based in California, his work moves between two registers: the patient, methodical observation of a working ornithologist, and the eye of a photographer trained to find the singular moment in a thousand. Recent assignments have taken him from the wetlands of West Sacramento to the cloud forests of the Andes — anywhere a bird is worth waiting for.
He works with private landowners, nature preserves, vineyards, lodges, and family estates to survey local avifauna, advise on habitat improvement, and produce documentation worth keeping — field guides, portfolios, and placards rendered with the same care as the photographs themselves. He also takes a small number of private touring clients each season, both at home and abroad.
Each engagement begins with a conversation. Pricing is a starting point — every commission is shaped by season, scope, and the land itself.

The fastest way to know a place is to ask its birds — they have lived there far longer than we have.— H.W., Field Notebook · April 2026
